Happy Wednesday!!! Tomorrow will be our first spelling test of 2nd grade!!!!

Encourage your child to bring their reading book home and practice the assigned story. We are currently on "Dragon Gets By".

Your child should be reading 10-15 each school night. Please keep track of this on the reading log that was sent home last Friday. The reading logs are due each Friday. When a child returns their reading log on a Friday they get a sticker for the chart. When a child earns 5 stickers they get to pick a prize out of the prize basket!!!!!!

Tuesday

Thank you all for having your child read the book-in-the-bag and returning it to school! I will try to send home a new book-in-a-bag each Wednesday and Friday. Simply have your child read it to 3 different people or to you 3 times and sign the back, put the book in the bag, and send it back to school. The new books on Friday are to be returned on Monday. The new books on Wednesday are to be returned on Friday.

Monday!

We are happy to report that when we arrived at school this morning one of our Monarch caterpillars had emerged from his chrysalis state!! We released the beautiful butterfly this morning after we enjoyed our morning snack! We still have one chrysalis and one caterpillar that is still eating!

Our spelling words for this week are the following:
bag, win, is, am, his, has, ran, if, dig, sat, was, I, big, an, scratch

Our class got their reading books today and should bring it home this evening to practice the first story, "Dragon Gets By". This story practices the short a and i sound, just like our spelling words!

Friday!!!!

Happy Friday All! Sorry I forgot to blog yesterday!!! Getting into a good routine takes about 2 weeks for all of us!!

I am sending home some very important information today with your child!

First, they are getting their first spelling list....study as you see fit.
Second, the 2-M newsletter I send home each Friday is arriving to you today!!! Read it please!
Third, we are starting our reading log reading today.....read the attached paper...it explains all.
