Good-Bye November!

It's so hard to believe that today is the last day in November! Oh, well, bring on December!!!

The weather was quite brisk on the playground today. With winter weather fast approaching please send your child to school with a coat, headband or toboggan, and gloves or mittens. The fresh air does us all good to go outside and we are only out for 15 minutes two times per day. If we are all properly covered up then we stay comfortable.

Tomorrow will be a spelling test for our students and reading logs are due on Friday.

I certainly hope everyone had an enjoyable Thanksgiving break!!

Math: Our class had a review lesson today due to me going to two different meetings right before Thanksgiving.....so we reviewed today what I had last taught them! Homework tonight!

Reading and Spelling: Our class started the new selection, "A Trip to the Firehouse", today. We will spend all this week and part of next on this story. We do have a spelling test this Thursday and Friday over the following words: train, tray, mail, play, trail, pay, snail, hay, nail, rain, they, great, stay, subway, maybe

Happy Thanksgiving!

I certainly hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Remember, there is no school tomorrow, Wednesday, November 23. Also, the students will be off from school on Monday, November 28. I will see everyone on Tuesday, November 29!

The friendship fruit went great!!!!! Thank you all for providing everything for it!

Monday

Tonight is a PTO Meeting at 6:00. All are welcome to attend!!

I have had to be out of the classroom the last two days in the afternoon due to meetings.

Tomorrow we will be making our Friendship Fruit in homeroom.

Tomorrow evening our Kindergarten Parent's Club will be having their annual Card Party starting at 6:00 p.m. It is always a great time!

Thursday

Tomorrow, Friday, November 18, is Team Jersey Day!!!!! Come wearing your favorite t-shirt, sweatshirt, or actual jersey of your favorite team!!!

The students will also be attending an assembly at 2:00 tomorrow to top off our Bully/Drug-Free Week!

There will be a spelling test tomorrow for any students who need to take it.

Math: We have just started regrouping with 2-digit subtraction.

Reading: We are reading and practicing skills that go along with the story, "Chinatown". We will test over this story on Tuesday, November 22.

Monday

This week is full of activities for our Drug/Bully-Free Week!
Today we wore peace signs or tie-dye and received a wristband to reinforce to always be peaceful.
Tuesday-wear red and the students will get a sticker.

Math class: We will begin a chapter on subtraction with and without regrouping of 2-digit numbers.

Reading: We began a new story today, "Chinatown". We will work with this story all this week and not test over it until next Tuesday, November 22.

Veteran's Day

What a lovely Veteran's Day assembly our school had today! The children were so well-behaved!

Remember, parent-teacher conferences are being conducted this evening and tomorrow morning. No school for students tomorrow!

Our Warrior Volleyball team will be playing in the state final 4 tomorrow at 2:00.

No school on Friday for Veteran's Day!

The Adena Athletic Boosters will sponsor their 30th annual Turkey-Noodle Dinner this Sunday here at the school!

Wednesday

Our Iowa testing is over! You, as a parent, will be informed, of your child's results as soon as they come in.

Our spellings tests will be tomorrow.....since next week is a short week we will not have new spelling words next week.

Picture re-take day is November 17.

November Has Arrived!

It's hard to believe we're in the 11th month of the year!

This week is a bit unique with our second graders taking the Iowa Test of Basic Skills. Today the kids took the reading and language part of the test and tomorrow will be math.

The Mid-Ohio Food bank will be at our school tomorrow from 2:30-3:00. Come and get some free fruits and veggies! All are welcome!

I appreciate all of your support as you help your child each day with their reading and math. I look back now on my own kids' progress with their school work and realize how important those young formative years truly were! Reading 10-15 minutes each night is so valuable and you will never regret the time spent reading to your child or having your child read to you! Give yourself a pat on the back for being a good parent!
