Big News: THE BLUE SLIDE ON THE PLAYGROUND IS NOW OPERATIONAL!!!!! It has even been reported that some teachers have been seen sliding down the slide!!!!

This week our spelling test will be on Thursday only due to our Field Trip on Friday.
Reading Logs should also be turned in on Thursday, again, due to our Field Trip.
2-M Reading Class is now working with the story, "Mrs. Brown Went To Town".
****If you still need to send in your child's Field Trip money and permission slip please do so ASAP!!!!

Fall
Today is the first day of Fall and it seems rather fitting that the weather is cook and a bit rainy.
Have a restful weekend!
**If you ever forget to send in your child's Reading Log we will accept them on Monday morning...we are all parents, too, and know how hectic Friday mornings can be!
Next week we will only have 1 spelling test and that will be on Thursday. The Reading Logs will also be due on Thursday due to us going on our Field Trip on Friday!!!!

A few things to report:
I sent home a Scholastic Book Order a couple of days ago and will accept orders with payment until Thursday, September 29. If paying by check please make it out to Scholastic Books.
Tomorrow is School Spirit Day in Second Grade!! Wear blue!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our field trip is next Friday. If any of you would like to go with us and ride the bus just let me know! Right now I have only one parent riding the bus with us. I realize many of you will probably follow along in your own vehicles, which is totally ok, too!!!
It is so important that your child's bookbag and folder be looked through each evening. Please remove their papers and only return the ones that may need to go back to their homeroom, reading, or math teacher. Also, please have your child read to you each school night. Doing this simple, but important skill will truly set the tone for their school career!

Lots of information!
Last night I got to attend the first PTO meeting of the year. Attending PTO meetings are a great way to stay informed about up and coming happenings with school and with the club. Check out their link on the school website!

Sorry for not posting!
Dear 2-M News Family,
For some odd reason I had "access denied" a couple of days last week when I tried to blog! It is fixed now......sorry about that!
Remember to send in field trip money and the permission slip....our trip will be on Friday, September 30.
Reading Class: My class in reading is having a review list in spelling this week. We are still working with the story, "Julius" and will be ready to take a test on Thursday!!!
Homework: The second grade homework is as follows: nightly reading with the reading log being filled out, study spelling as needed, Saxon math on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The reading logs are always due on Fridays.

Book Club has started!
Our second graders have started Book Club and Wilson. Both are to enrich their reading ability!
Ask your child tonight who they have for Book Club.

Remember, Grandparents Day in second grade is Monday morning at 9:00....we will be finished by 10:00.

Homework begins!
Second Grade Homework: Starting tonight your child will have math homework on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The homework is the back of the Saxon math worksheet. Please have your child complete the homework side and return it to school tomorrow. The students will give their math homework to their math teacher.
Reading homework: Each school night we are asking your child to read 15 minutes each night and for you to fill out their reading log for each night they read. The reading logs are due each Friday. Your child will give their reading log to their reading teacher!

The Sunflower Festival is this weekend in Frankfort! I hope you all can get out and enjoy it!
