System off-line

Right now our system is off-line, therefore, I cannot print our weekly 2-M News calendar. If you do not receive it in your child's folder today I will hopefully get to print it on Monday and then send it home!

Reading Test Is Now MONDAY!

Our reading test over the selection, "The Great Ball Game" will now be on Monday, March 1. This is due to not having adequate time this morning for the test due to the 2-hour delay. The students broke out in applause because of this!!

Reading Test and Math Test-Friday!

If your child has me for reading or math we will be having a test in each class tomorrow, Friday, February 26. Our math test is over ch. 13 on using money and our reading test is over the selection, "The Great Ball Game".

Guess you can imagine what I'll be doing over the weekend!

Reading Logs Due Friday

Reading logs are due tomorrow, Friday, February 26.

Bus Change Starting Monday!

There is a bus change starting Monday, March 1. Students who ride bus 24, from and to the Frankfort band only, will now be on bus 2. Bus 23 is being put to rest and will be replaced by bus 14.

Reading Test-Friday

Our reading test over, "The Great Ball Game" will be this Friday, February 26. The skills tested over will be the following:
* story comprehension-beginning, middle, middle, end....being able to summarize-which is telling the most important parts in your own words
* vocabulary and high frequency words
* knowing why birds fly south in nature and in the story-two different things
* putting a capital at the beginning of each sentence and a period at the end of a telling sentence

Reading Test on Friday

Our reading test over the selection, "The Great Ball Game" will be on Friday, February 26. I will blog info. about the test tomorrow and send a letter home tomorrow about the test.

Progress Reports Delayed a Week for Elementary

Mr. Snyder just informed us that Progress Reports will be delayed one week. Instead of your child bringing home their Progress Report this Friday it will now be next Friday, March 5.

Reading and Spelling

This week, Feb. 22-26, we will spelling tests on Thursday and Friday. You can find the spelling words on a previous blog from late last week.

Our reading story we are currently on is "The Great Ball Game". Please have your child practice reading this story at home.

We will be having a test over, "The Great Ball Game", either on Thursday and Friday. I will let you know by tomorrow and the skills that will be tested over.

Math-Money

In math this week we are comparing amounts of money to items that can be bought with that amount.
We will also be starting to count back change. We will learn to count up from from the price of the item to the amount of money we have. This is a life skill we truly don't see anymore since most, if not all, cash registers tell cashier exactly how much money to return to the customer.
We will soon begin telling time!!

100th Day Fun!

Our 100th day celebration was great!! The kids brought in so many interesting items that represented 100. It was a fun day!

Reading Logs

Reading logs are due each Friday. If your child has me for reading class I will accept reading logs on Mondays, as well.

100th Day-Friday, February 19-FINALLY!!

Our 100th Day will finally be celebrated on Friday, February 19. Please have your child bring in something that represents the number 100. We will enjoy looking at the different displays of 100 in each second grade class. Thanks!

We're Back!

We're back to school and everyone seems so happy!!!!

Parents,
Hello! I came up to the school this afternoon to check on our fish, "Swimmy", and thought I would post a blog. Swimmy is fine...thank goodness for weekend feeder tablets! I certainly hope we are back in school tomorrow. Routine is so good....not just for myself, but the students, as well. If we do return tomorrow, our 100th day will be celebrated on Friday! Cross your fingers!

Yeah!!!

We're back to school!!!! Yeah!! I was out sick last Friday and Monday, so I am thrilled to be back to school!! Our Valentine party is today at 2:15.....all are invited to come and enjoy in the fun!!

Reading Test

Just a reminder our reading test over the selection, "Ant" will be tomorrow, Friday, February 5. In the event of nasty weather and we wouldn't be here, we would take the test on the next day of school. Same plan applies for the spelling test!

Nightly Reading

Please have your child read 10-15 minutes aloud each school night. Even though we have requested all 2nd grade students and parents do this all school year, we are still having students not turning in their reading logs. The reading log is due each Friday. Teachers can easily give students a new copy of a reading log and if you ever misplace the reading log just jot down the readings on a piece of notebook paper. When your child is grown you will never look back and regret reading to them or having them read to you!

Illnesses

We have lots of sniffles, coughs, and colds right now......I've heard of strep and bronchitis going around, as well. Let's try and get lots of extra rest and wash our hands as often as possible!!

100th Day!

100th Day of School!!!!!
We will be celebrating the 100th day of school on Thursday, February 11. This is if there are no snow days between now and then!!! We ask that your child bring in a 100 of something to show the class. This is a fun way to celebrate our 100 days...be creative!!

We know this is the same day as our Valentine's party, but it is when the 100th day will fall. We will have a fun day!
