In book clubs today and centers the students eagerly made 2 blankets. Yes, I said blankets! Outerwear!

With our temperatures in the 50's and tomorrow in the 40's we all need to be aware of how our children are dressing and what coat they have. I recommend to the students that they can leave an extra pair of gloves and a toboggan or headband at school in their "cubbie" area. Our playground is a very flat area where the wind blows quite often. With the wind-chill the temperature can seem quite brisk. It may be time to check the coat closet at home and pull out items that are needed for proper outerwear!

Coats this time of year!

Please use good common sense when dressing your child this time of year. Some days the temperature is such that a hooded sweatshirt is ideal to wear outside. Other days the students will need their winter coats. Remember, our morning recess is from 9:35 a.m.-9:50 a.m. This morning it was 37 degrees. All kids need a coat when the temperature is 37 degrees! Please listen to the forecast to know how to dress your child for school.

FYI: Mr. Snyder announced this morning that shorts should not be worn to school until the last nine weeks' begins. Again, use good common sense when allowing your child to wear shorts to school.

Please have your child read 10-15 minutes aloud each school night. Even though we have requested all 2nd grade students and parents do this all school year, we are still having students not turning in their reading logs. The reading log is due each Friday. Teachers can easily give students a new copy of a reading log and if you ever misplace the reading log just jot down the readings on a piece of notebook paper. When your child is grown you will never look back and regret reading to them or having them read to you!

Illnesses

We have lots of sniffles, coughs, and colds right now......I've heard of strep and bronchitis going around, as well. Let's try and get lots of extra rest and wash our hands as often as possible!!
