April 5

There is a PTO meeting tonight at 6:00 in the staff dining room.  All are welcome to attend.

Our class will be having class pictures tomorrow at approximately 9:15 A.M.  If you would like to purchase a class picture or individual pictures of your child please fill out the picture envelope or visit the website of Downtown Photography to online order and pay.  Please do not have your child wear green!

Tuesday

The weather is so nice and the kids are enjoying recess so much!  Let's hope the nice weather continues!

In reading we are working on compound words.  This week our class has the following 7 seven spelling words:  cannot, maybe, playground, myself, sunshine, upon, someone

In math our class is measuring with an inch ruler.  Tomorrow our lessons will be on feet.

Monday

My reading class is now on the story, "Helen Keller."  Please read this story with your child.  We will be on this story for 2 weeks.

The spelling words my reading class has this week are the following:

own, most, soap, know, both, float, throw



Math:  We tested over chapter 7 on money last Thursday.  I will be entering the grades tomorrow.  I will save the tests to use again for time, as the chapter is split into time and money.  We will start our telling time lessons tomorrow.

Spring picture envelopes are being sent home today!!

Conferences

A big thank you to all who came out for conferences last night or this morning.  We truly appreciate your attendance.  Remember, if you ever need to contact us please call the office or email us!

A note from our music teacher, Mr. Jones:  Look for a study sheet to come home this next week and to review it at home on the subject of rhythm and instrument families.

All second graders are either getting ready to work with money and time or already are.  These are two life skills that need reinforcement at home.

Tuesday

2-M Reading:  Our spelling words this week will consist of 7 words:  pay, wait, paint, train, pail, clay, stay      The story we will be on is called, "Ah, Music!"


2-M Math:  We are a bit more than half-way through chapter 6 on 3-digit addition and subtraction.  Remember, homework is normally M-Th.  However, due to the 2-hour delay this morning we will not be having homework in math tonight.


Always keep an eye on the weather and temperature!

Monday

Our reading class will be having a test over the story, "Click Clack Moo" on Thursday along with a spelling test on Thursday and Friday, as needed.  The spelling words are:

hens, eggs, ducks, bikes, boxes, wishes, dresses, names, bells, stamps, dishes, grapes, jets, and frogs

Our math class is half-way through chapter 6 on addition and subtraction of 3-digit numbers.  Remember, the students have homework M-Th.

first week of January

We made it through our first week back after the new year and it has been a good one!

Please encourage your child to develop a love of reading.  This can be as simple as having lots of books at home to read.....don't forget the library as a great resource!  Also, having your child see you enjoy reading can be such a silent influence.

We will be back at it next week with more fun-filled second grade work!
I'm happy to come to school each day....hopefully, your child is too!
